Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Edinboro celebrated the installation of a beautiful new baptismal font, marking the end of many years of challenges with a persistent leak. What began as a goal to raise $22,000 quickly transformed into a successful community-wide effort, made possible by the generous support of parishioners and friends.
The success of this project highlights the power of #iGiveCatholic, which brings together Catholic communities and donors across the Diocese of Erie and beyond. Each year, #iGiveCatholic inspires Catholics to “Give Back and Give Catholic” in support of parishes, schools and ministries that shape our faith. This year, Giving Tuesday falls on December 3, presenting another opportunity for our diocese to unite in generosity.
With heartfelt prayers and God's grace, Our Lady of the Lake Parish surpassed its initial goal, raising an impressive $38,603 from 125 donors through last year's 2023 #iGiveCatholic campaign. An additional $1,000 award from the Quinn Law Firm, through the Catholic Foundation of Northwestern Pennsylvania, brought the final total to $39,603.
On Sunday, November 3, Bishop Lawrence T. Persico joined the parish for a special 10:30 a.m. Mass to bless the new font, dedicating it as a lasting symbol of renewal and faith. This sacred ceremony was a beautiful moment for all, representing the parish’s unwavering commitment to faith and community.
The Diocese of Erie extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, making this lasting symbol of purification, rebirth and the beginning of a new life in Christ a reality.
